Eddie Gilbert, owner of the Aire Serv UK Central franchise discusses the transition from Mr Electric UK Franchise to heating, air conditioning & refrigeration…

“I oringinally purchased a Mr Electric UK Franchise in 2005, which has since proved to be a rewarding experience. I was initially apprehensive about running the business with no previous knowledge of the Electrical Contracting industry, but with the support of the Home Office and a comitment to my business objectives I was able to succeed.”

As an addition to the successful Mr Electric operation, Eddie decided to purchase the Aire Serv Franchise for the Central region. “The transition to the Aire Serv franchise system was easy as it is much the same as Mr Electric. The only problems I encountered were some minor technical issues. I was also happy in the knowledge that the successful branding, community relations and good quality service could be replicated with the Aire Serv brand.”

“Since purchasing the Aire Serv franchise, the business has now grown from just employing one person to three full time staff who are always busy. A lot of our business comes from a number of different commercial and domestic clients, which means we have lots of business opportunities. One of the key reasons for our success is that customers know that we are always available, guaranteed and will do the job at the agreed time.”

As well as the support, which the Home Office has given Eddie, he has also been very proactive in his business strategies. “I always treat each situation like any business problem, by applying a number of key transferable business skills. One of my biggest challenges was to create a set of processes, which enhance the efficiency of operations. With my background in Information Technology, I was well placed to apply a number of skills. Therefore I designed specific software to cope with a number of process issues”

“In the long term, with the support of the wider Aire Serv and Mr Electric UK team, I hope to continue growing steadily, increase my portfolio of clients and become a well recognised brand around the Oxford and Central areas.”
